The third instalment of NOW will feature a major survey of works by renowned British artist Jenny Saville, spanning some 25 years of the artist’s career.
The show marks the first museum exhibition of Jenny Saville’s works ever to be staged in Scotland. Displayed across five rooms of the Scottish National Gallery, it will present the artist’s monumental paintings and drawings dating between 1992 and 2017. The exhibition will demonstrate the scale and ambition of Saville’s practice and her singular and dynamic approach to composition, gesture, materials and subject matter.
This edition of NOW will also feature rooms of work by five further artists: Sara Barker, Christine Borland, Robin Rhode, Markus Schinwald, and Catherine Street. Their works will investigate themes regarding the body, performance, process and materiality.
The NOW series of exhibitions was launched in March 2017 and reflects the Gallery’s ambition to share contemporary art with a wide audience, highlighting the extraordinary quality and range of work being made by artists associated with Scotland, across the UK and internationally, and placing art created in Scotland in an international context.
