A comprehensive exhibition on Picasso’s prints will be opening in October at the Compton Verney.
World renowned for his painting, Pablo Picasso was also one of the 20th century’s most inventive and prolific printmakers. Each technique – including etching, lithography, aquatint and linocut – inspired new directions in his work and was used to develop the recurring themes of bull-fighting, the circus, portraiture and Old Masters.
Featuring over 70 works from the collection of the Museum Kunstpalast in Düsseldorf, this exhibition traces Picasso’s evolving artistic vision through four decades of experimentation in printmaking techniques and subject matter.
