Momart coordinated transport and delivery of more than 200 pieces of gold and ancient artefacts to the British Museum in London for a major new exhibition – Beyond El Dorado: power and gold in ancient Colombia that opens on 17 October 2013.
We worked closely with an international cargo airline to safely handle and transport the precious cargo from Bogotá, Colombia to London. Bespoke packing cases with the latest monitoring technology were specially created to ensure the objects arrived at the museum in perfect condition. On-board couriers hand-carried gold pieces which needed to be maintained upright, and special artwork cases protected the other pieces during transport.
The gold and artefacts are owned by the Museo del Oro and are being loaned to the British Museum for the exhibition which runs October 17th through March 23. The exhibition examines the myth of El Dorado and explores the rich and diverse cultures of Colombia before the 16th century arrival of the Spanish.
Momart’s dedicated airport services team is specialised in coordination and shipping of fine art by air. For hand carry shipments and whenever an accompanying courier is required, we provide full courier assistance from the procurement of flight tickets, hotel reservations and itineraries through to transport to and from airports.
